Itinerary Details

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal

    Welcome to Kathmandu on your Classic Nepal Bhutan Tour. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Footloose Holidays will meet and transfer you to your pre-booked hotel. Check into your hotel, take some time to freshen up, and relax after your long journey. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can rest at the hotel or take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Thamel, a lively neighborhood dotted with shops, cafés, and traditional handicrafts. In the evening, enjoy a warm Nepal welcome dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

  • Day 2: Kathmandu and Patan Sightseeing

    Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter, set out for a full-day guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and Patan. Explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites that reflect the city’s deep spiritual and historical importance.

    First of all, proceed to the Kathmandu Durbar Square. It was once the royal palace of the Malla Kings. Today, the square is home to intricately carved temples, palaces, and beautiful courtyards. Also, visit the Kumari Ghar, the residence of the living goddess.

    Next, proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located along the Bagmati River, the temple is an important pilgrimage site and a center for Hindu cremation rituals. Visit the temple and receive the blessings of Lord Shiva.

    Thereafter, proceed to visit Swayambhunath Stupa, also called the Monkey Temple due to the presence of several playful monkeys. Reach the ancient stupa, which is perched on a hilltop. See the panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and experience a perfect harmony between Hinduism and Buddhism. After spending some time here, proceed to visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world. Explore various monasteries, prayer wheels, and shop from Tibetan shops.

    Later, proceed toward Patan (Lalitpur) to visit the Patan Durbar Square. Admire its Newar architecture, traditional stone carvings, and see the Krishna Mandir. Return to your accommodation on time. Have a sumptuous dinner and stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 3: Kathmandu - Paro (Bhutan) by Flight - Drive to Thimphu

    Post breakfast, check out of your hotel in Kathmandu. Our representative will transfer to the airport, where you will take a short yet scenic flight to Paro, Bhutan. Enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayan peaks such as Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Bhutan’s sacred mountain, Jomolhari, from the flight from Kathmandu to Paro. On arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative will greet and drive you for about 2 hours to Thimphu, the charming capital city of Bhutan. On arrival in Bhutan, start your sightseeing, exploring some important attractions.

    Visit the Buddha Dordenma Statue (Bhutan Point). It is a massive golden statue of Buddha overlooking the beautiful valley. Then, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a significant stupa and structure built in honor of Bhutan’s third king. It is often visited by locals for daily prayers. Next, visit the Tashichho Dzong. It is a fortress-monastery. It serves as both the government’s administrative center and a spiritual hub.

    In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with a soulful Bhutanese cultural show. The show features traditional music and folk dances. Thereafter, check into your pre-booked hotel. Freshen up and relax. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

  • Day 4: Thimphu - Punakha

    Check out of the hotel in Thimphu post breakfast. Drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The journey is dotted with beautiful landscapes, and you will genuinely have a delightful experience.

    En route, you will have to stop at significant famous places like Dochula Pass and Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple). Enjoy the spectacular views of the majestic Himalayan peaks and see the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, a memorial built for fallen soldiers. Visit the Chimi Lhakhang (Fertility Temple), dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, also known as the “Divine Madman”. Pilgrims visit this temple to seek blessings for fertility and happiness.

    Continue to Punakha. On arrival, visit the Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan. It is built at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. This place serves as the administrative center and the winter residence of Bhutan’s spiritual leader. Thereafter, check into your pre-booked hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Punakha.

  • Day 5: Punakha - Paro

    Have a very hearty breakfast at the hotel and embark on a half-day sightseeing tour of Punakha. Visit the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan. Enjoy the thrilling views over the Mo Chhu River. Later, visit the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Take a short hike to this temple. Experience the ultimate peace and harmony. Admire the lovely views of the Punakha Valley.

    Later, drive back to Paro, and enjoy the changing landscapes along the way. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the Paro Dzong, also called Rinpung Dzong. It’s a fortress monastery known for its beautiful courtyards, architecture, and spiritual significance. Then, visit the National Museum of Bhutan (Ta Dzong), originally a watchtower, now a museum. The museum has a rich collection of artifacts, thangkas, and ancient relics that narrate Bhutan’s cultural history. Next, check into your hotel in Paro. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 6: Paro Tour

    Have a very hearty breakfast at the hotel. Set out for one of Bhutan’s most iconic experiences – the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang). The monastery is perched dramatically on a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. Enjoy the spectacular views of the valley and experience the Bhutanese spirituality. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in the 8th century after flying in on the back of a tigress. Thereafter, descend and head towards Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, dating back to the 7th century. It’s a spiritual treasure and is still active with pilgrims.

    Therefore, take a leisurely stroll through Paro’s local market and shop for handicrafts. Interact with locals to learn about Bhutanese traditions. Return to your accommodation on time. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Paro.

  • Day 7: Departure from Paro

    Have a relaxed breakfast and check out of the hotel in Paro. A representative from Footloose Holidays will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your onward flight.
