Akbar’s Palace and Museum

This monument is located 1 km from Ajmer Junction Railway Station and 1.5 km from the Ajmer Dargah. This ancient citadel is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Ajmer. Constructed in 1570 AD by Akbar, this palace is protected by the two stone walls that surround it. It is believed that Emperor Jahangir and Sir Thomas Roe met here. This makes this place much more popular. Akbar’s Palace is undoubtedly an architectural marvel that attracts a large number of people from across the country.

In the year 1908, this palace was converted into a museum. You will find Hindu statues here that date back to the sixth and seventh centuries. There is also a black marble statue of the Goddess Kali. Ana Sagar Lake

It is also one of the best tourist destinations to explore in Ajmer. You will find an artificial lake here, which many people visit during sunset.  The views of the sunset and the lake are simply enchanting. Adhai Din Ka Jhopra

This is another popular monument that you must explore when you are in Ajmer. This is an architectural marvel that will take your breath away. Adhai Din Ka Jhopra is one of the oldest mosques in the country, which will transport you to the ancient era. This edifice is a perfect combination of Indian and Islamic architecture. Nasiya Jain Temple

Explore the intricate architecture of Nasiya Jain Temple once you are here. Dedicated to Lord Adinath, Soniji Ki Nasiyan temple has a great spiritual significance. Known as the ‘golden temple’, this sacred spot is decorated with delicate filigree work, intricate carvings, and gold. Once you are here, you will feel that you are transported to another era. Here, you will get to see gold-plated Jain figures, which look quite impressive.

Durga Bagh Gardens

Constructed in 1868 AD, the Durga Bagh Gardens are situated close to the Ana Sagar Lake. These gardens are a must-visit destination for people who visit Ajmer. You will find a variety of flowers in this garden that are a visual feast for those who visit here. One of the features of the garden is the Marble pavilions, which are constructed inside the Durga Bagh Gardens. This is a great spot for you to enjoy with your family and friends. You can also enjoy boating in Ana Sagar Lake when you are here.

These gardens were once devastated by the British as they built concrete structures here. However, the Government of India restored the beauty of the park by demolishing these structures.  

Best Time to Visit Ajmer

Winter Season (October to March)

This is the peak season to visit Ajmer, as most people book their Ajmer tour packages only during this season. The average temperature of Ajmer during the winter season remains between 15° and 28° Celsius. This is the best time to explore the tourist spots of Ajmer. It is also the best time to take part in the annual Urs festival at the Dargah.

Monsoon Season (July to September)

Ajmer receives moderate rainfall in the monsoon season. The temperature during this period remains between 25°and 35° Celsius. The beauty of Ajmer is at its best in the rainy season. Thus, it is a good time to visit this city in the monsoon season.

Summer Season (April to June)

The weather during this season is extremely hot. Thus, it is not advisable to visit Ajmer during this period. The temperature rises to 40 degrees Celsius in summer.

Situated close to the Moinuddin Chistri Dargah, the Dargah Bazaar is one of the most visited places. People who visit the shrine of Moinuddin buy flowers from this market. Nala Bazar

You can also visit Nala Bazar, as it is one of the most famous markets of Ajmer. The shops in this bazaar not only sell garments, but also miniature paintings and other items such as silver jewelry, woodwork, etc. You will also find Nagrai shoes in this market at the best rates.

Mahila Mandi

This market is dedicated to women as it sells all the items related to them. How to Reach Ajmer by Train?

You can experience a comfortable journey if you book a train to Ajmer. This place is connected with a good rail network to other major cities like Udaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, etc.

How to Reach Ajmer by Road?

Ajmer is connected with all cities in the country via good roads and highways. If you are coming from Jaipur, it will take 2.5 hours to reach Ajmer. However, if you are coming from Delhi, it will take approximately seven to eight hours to reach Ajmer.
